SAN SHEN FERTILITY CENTER

In vitro fertilization (IVF)

Plan stimulation, collection, fertilization, culture and transfer around both partners’ assessments.

Before your visit

  • Both partners’ histories and reports
  • Ultrasound and ovarian response assessment
  • Semen and uterine assessment
  • Infection and anesthesia checks
  • Transfer and pregnancy-test planning

Confirm the proposed tests and procedures, fees, storage charges and any additional costs individually.

What to discuss

Assessment before treatment

Bring both partners' histories, time trying to conceive and previous treatment results. Evaluation may include ovarian ultrasound and AMH, relevant hormones, semen analysis, the uterus, infection screening and anesthesia safety. Ask what decision any additional test is intended to inform.

Stimulation and egg collection

Use medicines as prescribed and attend monitoring scans and blood tests. The final maturation injection must be timed with egg collection. If an injection is missed or delayed, contact the team immediately rather than giving an extra dose yourself. Confirm fasting, anesthesia, an accompanying adult and sperm collection arrangements.

Fertilization and embryo culture

Conventional IVF or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is selected according to the indication. Not every collected egg is mature, fertilizes or develops into a usable embryo. Ask about these counts separately so each stage is clear.

Fresh or frozen embryo transfer

Ovarian hyperstimulation risk, your condition and the uterine lining can lead to freezing embryos for transfer later. The number of embryos to transfer is discussed individually; transferring more does not guarantee pregnancy. Embryo genetic testing is not required for everyone.

After transfer and warning symptoms

Continue prescribed support medicines and attend the planned pregnancy test and follow-up. A positive test still needs assessment of the pregnancy's location and development. After a positive pregnancy test, seek prompt medical care for severe or one-sided abdominal pain, fainting, shoulder pain or significant bleeding. Rapidly increasing abdominal swelling, repeated vomiting or reduced urine after collection need prompt contact. Breathing difficulty, chest pain, fainting or severe abdominal pain need immediate medical care. Do not stop medicines on your own because of spotting.
