This guide summarizes the main points of our Chinese article. Confirm your personal test preparation and treatment instructions with the clinical team.
Compare the options
Donor eggs may be discussed when obtaining or using your own eggs is difficult. Ask about the main problem, remaining options with your own eggs and the limitations, risks and time involved in each choice.
Health assessment for the recipient
Assessment includes the uterus and lining, pregnancy history, chronic conditions, surgery and medicines. Blood pressure, diabetes or other conditions may need specialist care. The sperm provider also needs semen assessment and appropriate infection tests. Using donor eggs does not remove the recipient's own pregnancy-related health risks.
Eligibility and formal procedures
An authorized fertility institution checks eligibility, documents, health assessments and consent under applicable Taiwanese requirements. This English guide does not establish eligibility or guarantee access to treatment. Before traveling, confirm required documents, waiting time, fees and what happens if treatment changes or is canceled.
Screening limits and emotional preparation
A donor's health, family history and infection screening help reduce identifiable risks but cannot exclude every disease. Allow time to discuss feelings about genetic relationships, shared understanding with your partner and how you may talk with a child in the future.
The later treatment steps
After assessment and formal procedures, care may involve fertilization, embryo culture, preparation of the uterine lining and transfer. Medicines, pregnancy testing and prenatal follow-up remain important. Embryo development and pregnancy outcomes cannot be guaranteed in advance.
